Sie verläuft als unpaares Blutgefäß an der Vorderseite des Rückenmarks im Wirbelkanal. Bei Tieren liegt sie dementsprechend an der Unterseite des Rückenmarks und wird als Arteria spinalis ventralis [2] bezeichnet.
