Bmw e60 glow plug is spinning- not coming out
WebJun 27, 2005 · I have a E39 525 TDS and its not starting up normally. I can get it to start up after about 90 seconds of cranking the engine. In the mean time it is blowing out grey smoke whilst attempting to start-up. This is probably unburn or partially burnt fuel. Once the engine is hot, restarting it is no problem. This indicates that the failure is ... WebMar 19, 2010 · Mar 8, 2010. #2. Try pulling hard by some means while unscrewing. If it doesn't come out with the head on, the head will have to come off. Either way it might need to come off anyway to repair the thread with a helicoil to avoid getting metal in the bore. If you don't do it yourself it will be very expensive.

It will only stay on for 1 or 2 seconds unless it is cold enough to require pre glow for starting. The light is not actually part of the glow plug circuit, so fuses and relay are not the cause.
